The AEL Advocate is a publication focusing primarily on legislative and policy issues about which every AEL member should be knowledgeable and informed. This service and the costs associated with it were approved by the membership at its annual meeting on June 26, 2008.
What takes place in classrooms and how services to children are delivered are subject to regulatory influence by the federal government, the state legislature, the State Board of Education, county government, and the Anne Arundel County Board of Education. AEL's posture is that no interest group better understands the impact on children and learning of any policy, statute, or resolution than those responsible for student performance and those professionals who research, develop and make available curriculum and instructional design. In Education that group is represented by AEL.
Therefore, AEL assumes an obligation to every child in every classroom to inform both those empowered to consider educational policy and regulation and those accountable for their implementation. The AEL Advocate assists AEL members toward these ends.
