On June 26, 2008, at its Annual Meeting the membership approved an iniative to monitor prospective legislation and policy issues at the state, county and Board of Education levels impacting K-12 public education. The goal is to enhance and insure the quality of educational opportunity and achievement for all children.

AEL will support, oppose, or seek to modify legislation and policy matters under consideration by lawmakers and governing bodies as deemed appropriate. Some situations may cause AEL to stimulate discussion on potential legislation or policy.

No single group has a better feel for the pulse of the educational process than school administrators. No group possesses more knowledge about curricular and instructional research and trends than those who supervise their implementation. Legislators and policy makers need a consistent and strong AEL voice to help insure Anne Arundel County Public School children are served as effectively as possible.
