AEL Organization

The core value for membership in AEL is individual commitment to the association's collective strength and unity.

AEL accepts as basic to its formation a responsibility and obligation to support the Board of Education's efforts toward equitable access to quality educational opportunity and maximum achievement for every child.

Surrounding AEL's core value are numerous, sometimes conflicting, philosophical views. Also contributing heavily to just how well both academic opportunity and achievement actually find their way into the lives of individual children are the dynamics of socioeconomic and sociocultural factors.

AEL understands and accepts that schools do not have control over all the variables contributing to curricular choices and academic achievement. However, AEL is keenly aware that education is a "labor intensive" enterprise; that is, educational quality is determined to an immeasurable extent by the quality of those responsible for its delivery.

Therefore, AEL accepts its responsibility to promote and support three principles as a guide for its activities:

Every activity of AEL is directed toward our core value and the fundamental principles we believe necessary to achieve it.
