Details regarding AEL's Sick Leave Bank are found in Member Services. All members are encouraged to give serious consideration to Sick Leave Bank membership. It is a particularly effective, low cost payroll protection insurance.
New Unit 2
members who have been members of TAAAC's Sick Leave Bank are cautioned. As a Unit 2
member TAAAC's SLB is no longer available. So, if days are still being contributed annually to TAAAC's SLB a decision needs to be considered regarding continued membership. AEL has proposed an imitative to TAAAC and the Board of Education calling for the days contributed to any Sick Leave Bank to follow the employee when s/he changes Unit classification. The impact of the proposal would be that any AEL or TAAAC member would contribute membership sick days only once regardless of job movement.
Changing Unit classification suggests seeking counsel by either AEL and/or TAAAC before deciding about SLB membership. Under any circumstances, a decision to withdraw must be conveyed to the Board of Education's Benefits Office.
